If I Could Only Pick One…

Single Issue:

Batwoman #1

It’s finally here!!!!! Or so we think. After being solicited multiple times, Batwoman #1, the start of the Hydrology story is due in stores, and IN MY HAND this week.  Call your store NOW if you forgot, many of these new 52s have been selling out, and considering how long people have been waiting, this will be one of them. I predict 3 printings at least.  Check out the preview if you’ve been in exile for the past year and haven’t seen it yet.

Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis

A small village in Africa seems immune to the No More Mutants curse, or is it? The team heads to Africa to investigate, and (as always) get more than they bargained for.  Featuring Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Emma Frost, Beast and Armor.

Writer: Warren Ellis

Artist: Kaare Andrews

New User Friendly? Yes

Quickie Comments:

Warren Ellis is just fun. Snarky, awful Emma, a bloody, flesh grinding Wolverine battle, and a random character no one remembers, from a story no one read as the twist! Ellis’ departure from Astonishing X-Men saddens me greatly, but this was a great story to exit on. I’ve never personally understood Kaare Andrews fans…until now. His work in this story is a perfect match, and he gives us one of the best fight scenes in recent memory. Not to mention a cover with Emma eating pancakes while using Scott as furniture.
